Flowers for a Friday

I've been out in the garden this morning discovering some of the beautiful flowers that are appearing there now that the blossom is over. I'm told the flowers in the second photo are aquilegias so that my newly acquired knowledge for the day. I shall be on the look out for them now as they are really beautiful.

Flowers for a Friday

Today I'd like to share with you some of the flowers I snapped in Crystal Palace last weekend. There's so many flowers and blossoms around at the moment that I'm a bit spoilt for choice. Looks like we've finally got some nice weather to get out and enjoy it in too.

Did someone mention tea?

So I have to admit that I have more than a slight obsession with tea. My cupboard is brimming with all different types of it and I honestly believe that you can never have to many teapots. As I've been feeling a bit sluggish today I decided that some Moroccan Mint tea in the garden whilst enjoying the sunshine would be the perfect remedy. This is probably not the most Moroccan way to serve it but it still did the trick and looked beautiful. I'm definitely feeling in a better mood now : )

A walk round Crystal Palace

About a week or two ago my boyfriend got a new telephoto lens for his camera but what with one thing and another we hadn't yet got to test it out properly so on Saturday we thought it was about time we took it out for a spin. Despite all the disappointing weather recently this spring does seem to have been quite glorious in terms of greenery and blossom and wandering around Crystal Palace park we were provided with plenty of enticing subject matter.

We spent ages watching this little baby coot being fed by it's parents. Despite being quite ugly and scraggy it still had a certain sweetness to it and was fascinating to watch and a challenge to photograph. There was soon a little group of us attempting to get that perfect image of it. This was the best I was able to capture. I've still got a lot to learn.

Even the large dinosaur sculptures seemed to add to the tranquility of the lakes. They look really quite happy and satisfied in they're family groups by the water. I think I would have been quite in awe to have seen these as a child.

As we wandered further up through the park we suddenly stumbled across the London and Surrey Mini club setting up for the London to Brighton Rally. It was amazing seeing so many minis in one place and the atmosphere was so chilled out with scores of people sitting back to watch the Italian Job on a big screen. I've got serious mini cravings now. Just got to learn to drive first!

Flowers for a Friday

For my first post I thought I would introduce what I intend to be a weekly feature - Flowers for a Friday. Like many girls I can't resist a pretty flower. My boyfriend can't quite understand cut flowers as he thinks its just buying something to watch it die. I guess he has a point but in the meantime I find they brighten up the room, lift my spirits and inspire my creativity. So here's today's offering.

The cola bottle is from my favorite London pub and I just had to bring it home with me.
